Walnut Oreo Balls

Walnut Oreo Balls

I made these white chocolate Oreo balls last week.. They were a hit, but I didn’t fully indulge in them. I felt something was missing. I like me some crunch… And the white chocolate wasn’t doing it for me.

So I enhanced the recipe 😀

1 package Oreos
1 package cream cheese, cold
1 bag milk chocolate chips, (used Hershey’s)
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts
1/4 cup whole macadamia nuts/hazelnuts

Some finely chopped walnuts for garnish.

1- put Oreos in food processor, blend til fine like dirt. Add the cream cheese and pulse until all the “dough” forms in one ball. Mix in the 1/2 cup walnuts.

2- form into bite size balls, add one macadamia nut or hazelnut into the middle. Form a perfectly round ball, or not. Good practice for the kids.

3- once you are done, if the dough is starting to warm up and fall apart, leave it in the fridge for 30 mins.
When ready to coat, melt the chocolate chips in a microwaveable bowl in 30-30-15 second increments. We can’t use burnt chocolate. And don’t have time to use the double boiler. We have stuff to do right?

4- swirl the Oreo balls into the melted chocolate with a spoon. Try to remove ball with as least excess chocolate as you can. Push it off the spoon with a skewer onto a tray covered with parchment paper or clear wrap.
Sprinkle with walnuts or any other garnish you like (cake sprinkles sounds good!)
AND VOILA!!! You are done! Refrigerate for minimum 30 mins and gobble up! You can store in an airtight container in the fridge for future chocolate cravings.
Enjoy!
