First Grade project: How to make a mini Lemonade Stand (Picture Tutorial)

First Grade project: How to make a mini Lemonade Stand (Picture Tutorial)

My daughter is in first grade, learning about different businesses that sell services and/or goods. Her assignment? To design a business that either sells goods or services. Now I think we might have taken it a step too far, since all what was required was a poster or diagram.. But it was super fun to make… So here it is:

YOU WILL NEED:

– Popsicle sticks ($1.97 at Walmart)
-yellow playdoh (for the lemons)
– glue gun with glue sticks
– a straw (for the cups)
– mini container to keep lemons (or a toy doll pitcher)
– decorations for your stand ( I used foam letter stickers I had on hand, you can paint yours)
– lots of patience

1- grab 12 sticks and set them nicely as shown, then grab another two sticks and glue them on horizontally so they can all be attached. This is the front “wall” of the stand.20140122-214101.jpg

2- then cut one stick in half, grab another 5 sticks and set them side by side. Glue the half stick horizontally leaving some sticking out at one end. As shown. Repeat two times.

3- glue one Popsicle stick on each side of the front wall. As shown.

Then glue on the two side walls from the small edge that was sticking out. Sorry if I’m not making much sense.

Now, we will assemble the top table piece. Glue 6 sticks together with 2 half sticks horizontally again. As shown . No need for extra edges sticking out. Glue it onto the base of the stand. Voila!!

(make sure the “table” top part is sitting on and glued to the inner horizontal sticks on the “wall” part.)20140122-214346.jpg

– now onto making the sign part: glue 3 sticks together with 1/4 of a stick. Follow the pics.

Now time to decorate! Cut up the straws into suitable lengths small enough for cups. And glue them on. Also glue on whatever will be holding the lemons.

Make the lemons with playdoh, by making tiny balls then pinching them on the sides. Forming them into shape. 20140122-214528.jpg
Decorate your stand with whatever you desire. I let my daughter handle that job. It is her assignment after all, (I swear!) 20140122-215100.jpg
