Posted by on Jan 23, 2014 in Childhood, Kinder-Ventures | 0 comments

My daughter is in first grade, learning about different businesses that sell services and/or goods. Her assignment? To design a business that either sells goods or services. Now I think we might have taken it a step too far, since all what was required was a poster or diagram.. But it was super fun to make… So here it is: YOU WILL NEED: – Popsicle sticks ($1.97 at Walmart) -yellow playdoh (for the lemons) – glue gun with glue sticks – a straw (for the cups) – mini container to keep lemons (or a toy doll pitcher) – decorations for your stand ( I used foam letter stickers I had on hand, you can paint yours) – lots of patience 1- grab 12 sticks and set them nicely as shown, then grab another two sticks and glue them on...

Posted by on Oct 11, 2013 in Kinder-Ventures, LoaMP, Ramadan/Eid | 0 comments

Eid Mubarak everyone!! Its that time of the year again and I wanted to share our Kindergarten Hajj/Eid activities at school.   we made these little Ka’abas out of tiny milk cartons, black paper and gold ribbon. So adorable. Also made these little sheep crafts out of cotton balls, googly eyes and red fuzzy wires (forgot their name) For the Eid party, there was tons of candy, cake and sweets. I made ma3moul to bring with me as well. This is called Candy Rain. The kids take turn sitting under the blanket while the teachers throw candy on the top and it falls through the holes, thus candy rain! All this while saying “Labayk Allahoma Labayk” as the Pilgrims would do around the Ka’aba. The gift exchange table, each kids brings a wrapped gift and they exchange them around...

Posted by on Sep 5, 2013 in Childhood, Kinder-Ventures, LoaMP | 0 comments

Insipration for today’s project came from this article: Craft Stick Critters from spoonful.com   Since I only have an hour to work with the kids at school, I had to prepaint the popsicle sticks at home so they will be dry. I used kids paint, and dot markers which were so much easier and cleaner.       And we made these little monsters!! We had extra popsicle sticks left, so we made little monster puppets. Forgot to take close-ups of those.  Mine looks like a human, I suck at monster drawing.   Then after that, I asked the kids to draw a monster and stick googly eyes and pompoms as the hair/hat.. they had a bunch of fun with that….     Here are their creations 🙂   Look...

Kinder-Ventures: 3D School bus art project

Posted by on Aug 29, 2013 in Childhood, Kinder-Ventures, Life of a MOM, LoaMP | 0 comments

This was my first time doing art with the kiddos.. I give them art projects to do together for an hour every Thursday before school ends. I really didn’t know what to expect, so I tried to find a simple project that the kids would be able to do and have fun at the same time. So while I was browsing education.com, I found this template : Bus pdf Download. Easy enough for the kids , or so I thought….      The kids ended up having a hard time not cutting up the bus into pieces, so the teacher and I cut them for the kids and had them glue and color. While the other kids were waiting their turns, I gave them these worksheets to stay busy with.. all bus related...
